Quality Manager: who is it?

The quality manager ensures that all aspects of production or service delivery comply with the requirements of the established quality standards. In doing so, he or she works in cooperation with other departments.

The activities of the Quality Manager include:

  • planning and implementation of quality management systems,
  • monitoring of production processes,
  • product safety monitoring
  • conducting audits and quality inspections,
  • solving quality-related problems.

What does quality manager has to handle?

A quality manager needs a wide range of skills to do their job effectively. Key skills include:

  • Data and process analysis, problem identification and solution design,
  • detail orientation,
  • communicating effectively with teams, suppliers and customers to ensure everyone understands quality requirements,
  • leadership and teamwork across departments,
  • detailed knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and other relevant regulations,
  • ability to quickly and effectively resolve issues that may affect quality,
  • planning, organising and managing quality improvement projects.
